SBU offers liberal arts and selected professional degrees and is affiliated with the Missouri Baptist Convention. SBU provides more than 100 areas of study at the undergraduate level and more than 10 graduate degree options. The main SBU campus is located in Bolivar, Missouri, with additional campuses in Springfield, Salem, and Mountain View. Total enrollment is approximately 2,700 with just over 1,100 undergraduates on the Bolivar campus.

SBU understands and emphasizes the dignity and equality of all persons and adheres to a strict nondiscrimination policy regarding the treatment of individual faculty, staff and students. Employees who feel they have been discriminated against shall report their concern to their direct supervisor, a member of the executive cabinet or the Director of Human Resources. Claims of discrimination will be investigated by the University and appropriate action taken based on the outcome of the investigation up to and including termination. Failure to cooperate with a discrimination investigation is a terminable offense.
In addition to compliance with the nondiscrimination provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the University is required to provide reasonable accommodations to the known physical or mental limitations of qualified persons with disabilities. A qualified person with a disability is a person who, with or without reasonable accommodations, is able to perform the essential functions of the position. A known disability is either visible or made known by the person with the disability. When a qualified individual with a disability requests an accommodation, the University will make a good faith effort to provide an accommodation that is effective for the individual and reasonable.
